What are Bagel Bites?

Bagel Bites are a brand name product produced by Ore-Ida or more specifically, a Kraft Heinz company. Ore-Ida bagel bites are a box of frozen mini or baby bagels covered in a flavorful pizza sauce, cheese, or a blend of cheeses and some of your favorite pizza toppings like pepperoni and sausage.

The history of bagel bites can be traced back to the early 70s when the pizza bagel was invented. Bruce Treitman claims to have invented them at one of the stores in his family's west coast chain of bakeries, Western Bagel. Katz Bagel Bakery in Massachusetts also claims to have made the first pizza bagel in 1974.

We may never know who actually invented the first pizza bagel, but we do know exactly who invented Bagel Bites. They're the brain child of Stanely Garczynski and Bob Mosher.

The two invented Bagel Bites using tiny, custom-made bagels in the mid 1980s. The tiny snack was an immediate and overwhelming success, and in only a couple of years, the pair had sold their invention to a larger company.

In 1991, Heinz bought the company and began mass marketing their Bagel Bites in supermarkets across North America. Today, you can get these tasty snacks in a variety of flavors.

Flavors

Ore Ida Bagel Bites currently come in six different flavors. Three Cheese, Mozzarella Cheese, Cheese and Pepperoni, Supreme (three cheeses, pepperoni, red and green peppers), Sausage and Pepperoni and for a limited time Extreme Nacho (ground beef, nacho cheese, mozzarella cheese, red and green peppers).

They come in 9, 18, 24, 40, and 72 counts and must be kept frozen until cooking. No matter which way you do it.
